IDS and the truth lol
once again as with tax cuts for the 1% this visionless govt tackle an issue from the wrong end by penalising the most vunerable/least blameworthy and supporting their cronies/sponsors “the private landlords” . Housing benefit has increased because of huge increases in rents over the last few years [ I understand they are already raising rents on 1 bed homes due to demand benefit to govt= zero]. I forsee social problems on a huge scale, not only homelessness but an increase in crime as people struggle to survive plus the inevitable danger of elderly tenants forced to take in lodgers by this petty vindictive tax.
The fair and least expensive way to reduce housing benefit is obviously a rent cap using partly the cash saved on housing benefit by the cap and borrowing at present very low rates local councils could then build proper council homes ,this would create work and demand for materials thus lowering JSA and garantee a much needed income for local councils from an appreciating asset for years to come and ease the housing problem. “too easy? too expensive ” check Labour’s policies after WW2 when the country was virtually bankrupt and on it’s knees.
I doubt this visionless Govt will do this for fear of their rightwing nutjobs and losing money from Tory party coffers which they will need in abundance if the wish to win over an electorate now aware of their deceptive and divisive propaganda machine.
I love it when you talk, rant and share wisdom. Comment NOW Cancel reply
