It is no surprise that the suicide rate is rising. The quality of psychiatric care available in North Staffordshire is appalling. I am a former inpatient and although the staff and therapists were excellent at the mental hospital where I was in residence, the actual psychiatrists where aloof,inconsiderate,arrogant and seemed more interested in their own importance and statistics than the actual welfare of the patients. This view was not only shared by my fellow patients but also by the majority of staff.
