Mental health: ‘Breaking the taboo.’ by Andy Burnham #ukmh

Later this week the House of Commons will debate a new law to remove the last remaining form of discrimination still enshrined in law.

At present, our law reinforces the outdated prejudice that recovery from mental ill health is not possible. That is wrong and we urgently need to put it right.

  1. The only people that are deemed recovered of mental illness are those that were not mentally ill in the first place but were misdiagnosed by incompetent psychiatrists acting on fabricated information by mental health community teams.

  2. these Politician’s surely dont live in the real world

I have never been a well person so cant ever recover.

Life long/permanent physical/Mental ilness means what it say’s.

I mean what I say. we need a proper people’s court to hold to account abusive service providers Now that could make people sleep better at night.

  3. What is it about labour (new version) MPs today?
Burnham above and the delightfully tory based liar Frank Field commenting in the Guardian? I could be forgiven thinking this was the labour party olympic legacy. But these people are scoundrels. They intend as much HARM to disabled people now as when they were in office.

  4. 1. Andy Burnham is a traitor
    2. The notion of recovery from mental health problems smacks of the atos way of doing things
    3. This has only become important because of the comments of some MPs recently – for decades ‘patients and families’ have been ignored.
    4. Discrimination legislation will be taken over by the Equalities Act
    5. The Equalities Act doesn’t work – see the hate abuse by the government towards disabled people.
    6. Forget all that “I’M HEALED – I CAN SEE – I CAN HEAR – I CAN WALK – I’M A PARALYMPIC INSPIRATIONAL BRAVE HERO”

  5. Finally at least Burnham is thinking of the whole person Approach. but needs a few lessons in real life.

Like a Labour led Council overseeing and supporting abuses committed by a close working partner
Mr Burnham dont preech to the victim untill you put your own house in order.
